A Season of Change
2016 brings many changes to Newaukum Valley Farm. After ten years of participating in our local COMMUNITY FARMERS MARKET IN CHEHALIS, we have decided to put away the market tent. This decision did not come lightly. We will greatly miss the weekly interaction we had with our customers, vendors and friends. We are part of a wonderful community and we are grateful for all the support we receive. We are still providing produce to local restaurants as well as the Olympia food Co-Ops. We are downsizing the farm with the hope that we can be more effecient. It will be exciting to see how these new changes affect our overall operation.
There will still be an opportunity to purchase produce from us directly at the farm. We will be focusing more energy on our farm stand this year. Our hours will be Wednesday’s from 1-7pm, starting June 8th. The farm stand will remain open until October 5th.
The Bunker Creek trestle on the Willapa Hills trail is now open. The trestle was damaged in the 2007 floods and has been closed until recently. The completion of the bridge deck over the trestle will allow people to bike from Chehalis to Pe Ell. Our farm is located just off trail, less than 6 miles from town. Several of the farms in our area will be offering farm experiences during the first Willapa Hills Trail Fat Tire Ride on June 25th called Tour de’ Farms. We will offer a farm dinner with Black Sheep Creamery and Dick’s Brewing Co. during the evening of June 25th. This has been a popular dinner date which is sold out. Find out more about what other farmers are planning here, RIDE THE WILLAPA. If you love biking, consider biking to the farm stand on Wednesday’s for your fresh veggies!
We will be offering another season of our popular Chefs in Our Field Farm to Table dinners this year. Our 2016 schedule along with dinner details and information about the featured chefs and producers are now listed on our website. This is one our favorite times to sit and enjoy the fruits and vegetables of our labor. The food and company are always outstanding. We truly enjoy meeting new people and giving guests a look into our operation as well as that of our area producers. For our complete schedule, click here CHEFS IN OUR FIELD.
